Kundalini Yoga Training
Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic system combining breathing, movement, stretching, postures, meditation, the use of sound and rhythm, relaxation and meditation. Each class includes pranayam, a sequence of postures for specific effects, relaxation and meditation. Kundalini Yoga was brought to North America by Yogi Bhajan in 1968, but has evolved over thousands of years, originating in India. As there are a wide variety of exercises and meditations utilized in Kundalini Yoga, it can be adapted to address many specific health applications.

Kundalini Yoga as Taught by Yogi Bhajan
Yogi Bhajan brought Kundalini Yoga from India to the west in 1968, and taught extensively until his death in 2004. Born as Harbhajan Singh Puri in 1929 in the part of India that became Pakistan, he began training in Kundalini Yoga when he was eight years old, and his teacher, Sant Hazara Singh, proclaimed him to have mastered this discipline at age sixteen. He graduated from Punjab University in economics, excelled in debate and was a star athlete. He headed the Customs office at New Delhi’s airport, married and had three children.
In 1968 he left India when he was invited to teach yoga at the University of Toronto, intuiting that his calling was in North America. He began teaching Kundalini Yoga first in Canada and then at colleges and universities in the US, including Claremont College and UCLA.
In 1969 he founded the non-profit 3HO Foundation (Happy, Healthy, Holy Organization, 3ho.org), which has subsequently spread to over 300 centres in 35 countries, spreading the technology of Kundalini Yoga. Today the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association and the Kundalini Research Institute hold teacher-training courses throughout the world.
Yogi Bhajan was an advocate of world peace and religious unity, and in June 1985 he established the first International Peace Prayer Day Celebration in New Mexico, to which over a thousand people are drawn annually. Yogi Bhajan also spearheaded or was advisor to many successful businesses, such as the Yogi Tea Company, Golden Temple Foods and Akal Security. Yogi Bhajan passed away on October 6, 2004 at his home in Espanola, New Mexico, after giving his all to serve humanity and provide us with magnificent teachings to usher in the Aquarian Age. After his death the United States Congress passed a Joint Resolution honoring his life’s work.
