Postures: Exercises for Strength and Healing

  • Overview and experience of different forms of mantra meditations. Kundalini Yoga incorporates dozens of mantras, each with its own vibratory effect. Mantras can be used for very specific purposes. Some will enhance our magnetic field or balance the tattvas (elements); others can open the heart chakra or strengthen the navel centre. Specific mantras may develop courage or improve interpersonal communication.
  • While we use postures, philosophy, breathing and relaxation, it is the scientific use of sound that most distinguishes Kundalini Yoga from other forms of yoga.

Yogic and Western Anatomy

  • In this course, you will gain an understanding of how the respiratory, nervous, immune, musculo-skeletal, circulatory, endocrine, and digestive systems function and how they are influenced by the practice and teaching of yoga. In addition to traditional Western anatomy, you will learn about Yogic anatomy and the energy systems of the body, including the chakras, the nadis, the pranas and vayus, and the five koshas (yogic sheaths). We will also explore the relationship between Western anatomy (the physical body) and Yogic anatomy (the subtle body) through practical yoga exercises, breathing practices, and relaxation techniques.
  • Learn the necessary anatomy for teaching yoga and understand how it works through the physical body. There will be a strong emphasis on many of the therapeutic aspects of Kundalini Yoga and meditation.
  • You will learn how specific yoga exercises can rejuvenate the vital organs.
  • A study of the Chakras and the Ten Bodies; Prana, Apana, the Nadis and Kundalini energies and how this subtle anatomy relates to and overlaps the physical body.

In this educational module, you will learn about the psychology, philosophy and history of yoga, its literary and cultural heritage, and the basic concepts that underlie all yoga practices. From this basis, you will learn how to practically and effectively integrate the teachings of yoga into your life in interpersonal relationships, your personal health and hygiene habits, and your daily diet.

The methodology of teaching yoga includes practical suggestions for teaching beginners, ethical guidelines for teachers, the language of teaching, student-oriented teaching techniques, curriculum development, and the role of a teacher. The emphasis of the module is learning and implementing practical methods that create a successful learning experience for yoga students.

“The Kundalini teacher training with Sat Dharam Kaur inspired a kind of learning that is deeper and more lasting than any other spiritual or other training I’ve experienced. It manifests in surprising ways, and has given me a set of important touchstones that have helped me be more attentive to living purposefully, and brave in the face of ever-changing circumstances.”

“Truly the best course I have ever taken. When I started this course my intention was to enhance my Hatha and Ashtanga teaching practice. I never expected the benefits that would come from this course. Kundalini Yoga allowed me to build my nervous system which allowed vitality and energy to course through me. I know have more energy than I did when I was in my 20s. My body is now more flexible and youthful. This change is so obvious that many of my family and friends have asked, ‘What are you doing?’. I also am now able to enter to a state of peace at will within 10 mins. of practice. These practices work with everyone!!! I practice Kundalini Yoga with my high school students for a few mins. at the start of every class. Although the students were initially resistant they now crave the relaxation and confidence that this brief practice brings. My teacher Sat Dharam Kaur lives these teachings. She was able to give practical and inspiring teaching as to how to enter the zone. I was amazed at how generous she was with her teachings, time and love. I have had many teachers that initially seemed to be kind and trustworthy, who only later showed their true colors. She is the real thing!!! Sat Dharam is 100% committed not only to her students but to every person she encounters. Shabad Saroop was a wonderful guide who mentored us through many practical aspects of the practice. He always had a smile and a great sense of humour. My life has been altered from taking this course. Thank you…”

“This year has been one of the best things I’ve ever experienced and I just wanted to say thank-you. I’m feeling very different since the course ended…just so grateful, lighter, happier. I find now if I’m crying it’s more because I’m just so in awe of how overwhelming and incredible God’s love is.”

“Sat Dharam I can not thank you enough for this past year. You have given the guidance I could only hope from my Mother, except the radiance and space you came from was so different, without judgement of any of us. I am soooo appreciative of that. The words I read in January ‘be prepared to change’ your life, ring in my head this week more than ever. My life has changed 100% this year, all for the better, and all because of the Kundalini Yoga course. My thanks and appreciation to to all of you in the course and you Sat Dharam, words are not enough. My life flows much easier.”

“For me, I relate the experience of Kundalini Yoga and the Teacher’s Training to the music of Snatam Kaur, when she sings ‘and I’m Coming Home.’ What a beautiful spiritual Home it is. Thanks to each and every one of you.”

“The Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Course helped me to cultivate my inner awareness and guide my journey. This was made possible with great teaching and coaching throughout the course. This course also helped me to realize my potential. It gave me a foundation and knowledge of Yoga and tools to use in my daily life. About Sat Dharam – “a good teacher explains, a superior teacher demonstrates, a GREAT teacher Inspires.” Sat Dharam inspired me through the course and made this journey possible. She is an awesome and generous teacher. She lives by her teachings and practices. She is a source of inspiration and strength. I respect her ability to share her knowledge and strength generously with each and every student in the class. She is extremely knowledgeable in Kundalini Yoga and its science. I am truly blessed to be guided by such an awesome gifted teacher.”

“I loved every moment of the course. I could barely wait from one weekend to the next to continue. The training helped me to heal many of my issues and to regain faith. After each weekend of training I felt uplifted, energized and motivated to conquer my fears, pain, sadness and darkness. I learned how to establish new boundaries and most importantly learned how to access my neutral mind. My everyday coping skills are now stronger than ever in my life and I am able to help those around me with loving detachment. I am particularly grateful to Sat Dharam Kaur, who approached each of us with exceptional understanding, love and compassion. She was always available to address our deep spiritual, emotional and physiological needs by sharing with us her great wisdom not only from the yogic perspective but also from the perspective of a Naturopathic Doctor and highly advanced spiritual being.
I loved the panel of teachers:
I would like to thank Daya Kaur- for her gentle yet solid, reliable presence and helping me with understanding the learning process.
Lee Majewski – for sharing with us her great yogic knowledge and teaching me not to be afraid of asking questions.
Har Prakash – for his expertise and deep understanding of the meditative mind.
Sat Amrit – for his broad perspective on the spiritual aspects of life.
Nirmal Singh – for his humble and detailed evaluation of us. This great contribution helped us to perfect our kriyas and postures.
Thank you and love to you all.”

“I would like to take a moment to reflect on my experience during the Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training. When I first inquired about the training I had only taken one prior Kundalini class! Although I had been practicing Hatha Yoga for years, I felt that something was missing in my practice, I wanted to go deeper, to learn and experience more about the traditions, breath-work, meditation, and mantra.
On the first day of class I felt like I had arrived home, the Teachers were knowledgeable, competent, and compassionate. I felt at a very deep level that this was the knowledge that I had been searching for. As the months passed I felt myself open to the fact that this training would greatly deepen my own practice, and be something beautiful to share with the world. Of course it was not always easy, and there were many challenges, but there was always support and encouragement along the way. As our group of teachers-in-training progressed, we became like a family, sharing and building upon our success together.
I would highly recommend this experience to anyone seeking a deeper knowledge of Yogic technology, as well as a stronger connection with themselves.”

“Taking the Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training has given me an incredible body of knowledge to use daily in my practice and to teach others. I have matured into my true self. The course has allowed me to find inner strength during difficult times by using the power of the pranayams, kriyas, and meditations. It was very empowering, reflective, compassionate, and supportive. These are tools for wisdom and strength in a changing time, tools to use forever.”

I wanted to thank you one more time for all that you are and all that you’ve given.
Your indomitable spirit, drive, seemingly endless reserves of energy, passion, compassion and utter devotion to the teachings that you so totally embody are indeed the spark to light the inner fire and spirit of those whose lives you touch. I am certainly the grateful beneficiary of that spark of radiance. You inspire others and gather around you those who in turn inspire others. And so the Golden Chain grows.
– O.D.
